Home revamp part 3...

Hi everyone! I have been slowly...very slowly.... switching out my home to shades of white and neutrals working with textures, and woods. There is still more to be done, I'm on the hunt for chairs and still have some things to change in the bedroom but its getting there. I am loving the peacefulness and calmness I feel with whites and a more organic feeling. At the end of the day, its extremely relaxing. Here a few recent photos...

White Sofas...

Hi everyone! Ok, I'm sure you knew this post was coming- a blog on white sofas. I have loved a white sofa for so long and I finally got mine from my moms over the weekend, I washed up all the covers and its sparkling white again. I know what most of you think about white- I could never have white furniture, I have kids and pets! And, trust me, I was one of you at one point! I was so scared, even though I made sure to have washable/dryable heavy white cotton duck fabric used. But let me tell you- it washes like a freakin dream. I love that I can clean my covers, unlike upholstered furniture, and because I am a clean freak, I like to see the dirt, and therefore clean it :) So, in time I will be showing you photos of my living room with my white sofa, but for now here are a few rooms I love with white sofas, have a great day!

Accessories I love right now and a little chat...

Hi everyone! I have a much needed day off today, after 2 weeks of working thru a flu, and 2 massive toothaches that needed root canals, which, BY THE WAY, pretty much killed me, now that I'm all better-I get the time off, haha. But I'm excited to get things ready for  my sofa which we are hopefully going to pick up this weekend. In case you missed my post a few days ago-I sold my sectional, and am picking up my sofa that I sold to my mom- my beautiful white slip covered down filled sofa- the whole family wants this sofa back and I'm happy to oblige as its white, YAY white! Because its slip covered I can just throw the covers in the wash and its perfect again. Whats funny is the second I had the covers made, I was afraid they were too white and got scared to have a white sofa, but my mom has been doing just that, throwing them in the washer and dryer (I had preshrunk fabric used) and its still perfect after over 3 years, animals and an abundance of use... so now I am taking it back, HA! Anyhoo, I wanted also to share some accessories I am in LOVE with right now, for my own home and also for my clients. Check them out!

I love using glass, and this large olive jar is something that can stand alone to make an impact or be grouped with other glass...

I love this concrete etched heart, it would look great placed on a stack of books on say a coffee or side table....

I just ordered a similar hamper to this, I love that it is versatile and pretty enough to have in any room- I currently have it in my living room to hold extra throws, but it can be used anywhere...

This is next on my list- Decorate with flowers- its a beautifully illustrated book on how to make flower arrangements to suit your decor...a little fact about me you may not know- is I took a floral design course in my twenties, so anything to do with flowers I LOVE!

Have a great weekend!

Over dyed Vintage Rugs...

Hi everyone! I am noticing this trend happening lately- the over dyed vintage rug. I see it popping up in traditional, country and modern intetriors and I LOVE it! The process includes neutralizing the vintage rugs original colors while still retaining its design, and then over-dying them to create a more solid colored rug. This creates a unique one of a kind rug each time. I absolutely love them and am incorporating one into my current clients home as she loves them too. Here's a few photos ...enjoy!

You can purchase one of these stunning rugs HERE

mirror image...

Hi everyone! I have a thing for mirrors. I have always loved a statement mirror, I happen to have one of my own and always try to add them into my clients homes as well. There are so many styles out there and they don't have to be huge to spark a conversation. Find one with an embellished frame or a unique style and place it above a buffet or vanity. A leaner mirror is great and can reflect a beautiful room or the scenery outside. Here are a few mirrors I happen to love...

Cozy living rooms...

Hi everyone! Well, this is turning into a post a month but you know how it is, at least its something :) I have been working on a clients entire home, which is taking alot of my time and mind, at the end of the day I'm still not done as I come home and have to source out items for them or am making phone calls trying to track down an item etc, etc, the list goes on! I just finished the two girls rooms and will be moving on to the family room next, its so exciting for them and for myself. This is my second whole home I've done and as exhausting as it it, its also very rewarding. In my off time, I'm still working on my living room. My area rug was delivered yesterday and I'm hoping to pick up my sofa in the next couple weeks, as well as a couple other things I have ordered. The sofa is a whole other story. I had a white down filled sofa that I sold to my mom, which my husband goes on and on about wanting back, pretty much on a daily basis. There is just nothing compared to the comfiness (is that a word?) of this sofa, so that being said, we are going to pick that up. Right now, I have a sectional which-helpful tip here- always measure your item  before bringing it home, dont trust the furniture store, or in my case- kijiji ad to be the right measurements! Once we had the sectional home, it really was too large for my space but I lived with it for over a year now and am ready for it to go. I contemplated another smaller sectional, as I really love it for a small space, but I'm excited to get the sofa in here, and its white, which is the way I'm going in my living room. I'm super excited to show you the space when its all done. Here are a couple living room photos I love and have inspired me...have a great day!!

Home Re~vamp Part 2...

Hi everyone! So, I have mentioned before in a couple posts how I'm doing a home revamp...taking most of the black out, in favor of a brighter, lighter, and whiter palette. Slowly I've been accomplishing this and wanted to share my latest photos with you as well as what I'm still working on...

My most recent purchase was my new coffee table, I have been looking for a waterfall coffee table for-EVER and it seemed like I just couldn't find one that had the perfect lines and finally I did, at my favorite store- The Cross Decor and Design in Vancouver and had it shipped out here. My white one I had previously was great but I wanted an airy feel and this does it for me...

I posted this photo in my "beautiful buffets" post but I just wanted to mention again-this is an Ikea piece! I love the high gloss white and extra storage it provides me...

My new dining table and white chairs that I am so in love with, I really needed a bit of rustic and this is that one piece that did it for me...I love that I don't have to worry too much about ruining it either....

So right now, I'm continuing my revamp by purchasing a couple new pieces for my living room- a new sofa/sectional as I don't want grey anymore- looking for something lighter, and a tad smaller. I am waiting for some new wall pieces and an area rug to be delivered.... And then I will be working on my bedroom, again lightening it up and taking the black out....to be continued in a future blog post!  Have a great day!
